Clip ‘n’ Climb was our first
stop today. Students had free rein of climbing on any of the vertical
obstacles, and their seemingly fearless attitudes was impressive to watch as
they spent a couple of hours scrambling up walls like nimble little monkeys.
Most impressive were those who took the 'leap of faith' - climbing up to a high
platform and then jumping in hopes of catching the bag set some distance away.
Miss Ohlin was a first-timer filled with trepidation to conquer the leap. On
the other hand, Miss Preston backed up from last year, determined that the Leap
of Faith would not defeat her. (There was a fingernail in it, Miss Preston!)
Lunch was in western
Melbourne for fish and chips at Williamstown. Here, we had a fabulous view over
the harbour and Melbourne city skyline as we walked down Gem Wharf.
Ready for dinner, Craig
dropped us off in the city where we hit the famous Haigh’s Chocolate store for
some sweat treats and gifts, before our cravings were satisfied as we tucked
into Mexican food at the Melbourne CBD restaurant, Touché Hombre. We rounded
off the evening with an iconic cultural movie featuring the Melbourne Cup: Ride Like a Girl (The Michelle Payne story).
Everyone really enjoyed the movie which featured the Ballarat track, nicely
liking our tour of Sovereign Hill to the film. However, without a doubt, the
crowd favourite was character Stevie Payne (who played himself). Another tram
ride home, and we were ready for showers and bed time. This action-packed trip
has happened so quickly, we cannot believe we are going home tomorrow… but not
before we squeeze in a Docklands adventure!
